I can totally restrain myself from eating any food for the next week, but I wish I were in the woods or something....it seems like every other business in NYC is a restaurant, so walking down the street I am faced with so much temptation...It's not that my body needs food right now (I feel totally fine enegry wise), but it craves food as habit, perhaps. Consumption, taste, flavor. Eating is such an under-appreciated form of engaging with the universe. Descartes said "I think therefore I am", but we are more than just thoughts, we are what we sense: We are our taste. We are our smell. We are our vision. We are our touch. We are our hearing. All of these elements that are in the background, actually fill our lives with such richness we usually are to busy to understand or investigate. Things don't happen "out there". Those bottles clinking in the recycling on the street below me right now are as much a part of me as my thoughts. All we are is our attention, and our relationship and understanding of our attention. Since I have not been able to consume food, I have been consuming images with my camera. Here are a few from a walk I took after work. Its so good to walk again..So grateful for the sun and the warm weather..now my pictures temporarily become you...
